iCardz delivers an innovative and effective telling of America's D-Day story with its America at War: WWII Collector Card Series featuring the Band of Brothers. Modeled after user-friendly sports and entertainment trading cards, this set commemorates American veterans as it reveals, step-by-step, the story of America’s role in the success of this world-altering event known as D-Day.
Two years in the making and ready to be released January 2010. America at War: WWII contains 192 images, including paintings courtesy of The Valor Studios Collection, beautifully hand-tinted photographs, graphics, and maps. These images highlight the people and events that contributed to the planning, organization and execution of Operation Overlord, complimented by engaging and illuminating text. These elements combine to create a collector set that appeals to students, parents, educators, veterans and their families, history buffs, military and card collectors, and many others.
An outstanding feature of America at War: WWII is the inclusion of a subset of Band of Brothers cards within the larger collection. This exclusive addition explores the extraordinary story of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment made famous by the Steven Spielberg and Tom Hank’s miniseries “Band of Brothers”. The subset illustrates the story of Easy Company from its inception up to and including the Normandy offensive, as well as cards profiling actual Band of Brothers veterans “Buck” Compton, Don Malarkey, Bill Guarnere, and five others. Significantly, autographed cards, signed by actual Band of Brothers veterans, are randomly inserted into packages of America at War: WWII cards. Subsequent America at War series will include additional stories from Easy Company as they battle through the European campaign.
Also found at random in America at War: WWII card packages are sketch cards by card artist Ingrid Hardy. Ingrid has produced sketch cards for several TOPPS series including Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Heroes, and The Lord of the Rings. Her America at War: WWII illustrations are also sure to become a valuable collectors item.
Through an exclusive agreement with Valor Studios of Pennsylvania, this set also features evocative paintings by other artists, all depicting unforgettable scenes from the Normandy invasion.
AUTOGRAPHED VETERAN CARDS
Everyone wants a souvenir of his or her hero. Baseball fans collect the autographs of their favorite players. Movie and music devotees pursue celebrities for signed photos. Readers line up for hours to have authors personalize their books. iCardz now introduces a significant addition to this list of sought after mementos.
iCardz’s America at War: WWII series features special insert cards autographed by actual Band of Brothers veterans. Beyond hitting a home run, recording a hit song or writing a best seller, these veterans put their lives on the line for America and her Allies. In an era when the term “hero” is sometimes used indiscriminately, these veterans are truly deserving of the title.
Participating Band of Brothers veterans have autographed 2,000 cards that have been inserted at random into America at War: WWII packages. Online Buyers are guaranteed one autographed card per box. Now, you can own a piece of American history, signed by the people who helped create it.
Autographed items from Easy Company are a very sought after and valuable item. The following is taken from select sections of an article from 'Collecting "Band of Brothers"', by William F. Howard, Military Trader Magazine.

"Interest in the history of the Band of Brothers has generated much demand for items associated with the famous unit and the paratroopers who served in it. WWII paratrooper memorabilia has always commanded a premium, but the Band of Brothers phenomena sent prices soaring as collectors scrambled to add anything associated with the unit to their collections.
“Wild Bill” Guarnere, the flamboyant Easy Company paratrooper who lost a leg in the war and who was one of the featured characters depicted in the HBO series, has, for several years, marketed signed photos and memorabilia on his Web site, www.wildbillguarnere.com. Guarnere’s signature on photographs retails in the range $30-$85.
Signed photographs of the remaining Easy Company veterans generally fall into the range of $15 to $35. Even examples signed by Darrell “Shifty” Powers who died in June 2009, are still available within this price range.
Forrest Guth, the innovative paratrooper who preserved much of the Easy Company story by ignoring army regulations and taking hundreds of battlefield photographs during his service, used to sell a signed copy of one of his most well known images in order to raise funds for a local high school history publication. At one point, he was selling signed copies of the 8x10 photo for $10, but increasing age has suspended such efforts. Those signed photos of Forrest Guth now retail for $50 to $100.
The cards are available initially in 8-card packages, 24 packages to a box. Each box will contain one full set ensuring no duplicates. Complete factory sets (available with collector albums and sleeves) will be made available soon afterward.
Package suggested retail price: $3.95. Printed on premium, high gloss card stock with aqueous coating. 3.5” x 2.5” cards fit into commercially available vinyl collector card pages and custom America at War albums.
FEATURING: SPECIAL INSTANT WIN CARDS
